Simple Black Beans – Two ways

***Do not pre soak***

Stove Top

Rinse and sort beans. 

Place bean in large cook pot.

Cover with water, 2 to 3 inches. Bring to boil.

Reduce heat to very gentle boil (keeps them intact).

Stir periodically and add boiling water (I use a tea kettle) when needed. Beans will cook in 1 to 2 hrs.

Start tasting after 1 hour and repeat every 15 minutes until they are cooked to your liking.

Add salt and cumin to taste.

Instant Pot

Rinse and sort beans.

Add to Instant Pot.

Cover with 3 inches of water.

Add half teaspoon salt.

Close lid and set to cook on high Pressure for 32 minutes.

Once done let sit for 10 minutes before manually releasing steam.

Add salt and cumin to taste.
